CMHA branches across Manitoba offer a variety of services. Our services are informed by CMHA’s Framework for Support and the recovery model as a basis for working with people with mental health illnesses and challenges.
Services
Our Self-help program is a person centered and recovery-oriented program that helps empower individuals to help themselves feel better. We offer one-on-one support meetings and referrals to other mental health programs. Self-help teaches coping skills to maintain positive mental health and how to manage mental health issues or concerns.

Self-help is an empowering practice to help you develop plans to keep yourself in control of your own destiny. Each individual has the opportunity to create customized self-help plans that fit your strengths and areas you want to work on.
Self-help assists you to become a better version of yourself in the areas you wish to improve upon. By increasing your self-awareness capabilities, self-help efforts can help you to learn to recognize potential issues related to your mental well-being, before they occur, so you can tackle them as they come.

The term self-help support group refers to more than two people who come together to deal with a shared concern or problem. We provide support groups for families and individuals based on the need of the community.
- Anger Management
Anger Management is provided in a group setting. Using an Anger and Aggression Workbook, clients will work alongside a Rehabilitation and Recovery Specialist to improve upon and develop new skills to cope with the anger and aggression experienced in our daily lives. A certificate of completion is provided to those who complete the program successfully.
- I’m Thumbody
We offer the I’m Thumbody program which is a public education program designed for students in grade three. It is a self-esteem and mental health program for children to help build healthy self-concepts, to instill feelings of self-worth and to help children develop an understanding of their unique differences, strengths, and individuality as part of maintaining good mental health.
