Event Type
Both mental illness and substance use/addiction are often portrayed in media through the news, tv shows, pharmaceutical company commercials and in movies. Sometimes the media gets it right and sometimes the media gets it very wrong. This course will discuss the images and stereotypes seen in our society through the media and together we will identify positive and negative portrayals. Movies focused on mental illness and substance use/addiction themes will be reviewed after the group decides which five films they wish to watch and assess.
We’ll have snacks ready for you!
