DESCRIPTION:Both mental illness and substance use/addiction are often portr
 ayed in media through the news\, tv shows\, pharmaceutical company commerc
 ials and in movies. Sometimes the media gets it right and sometimes the me
 dia gets it very wrong. This course will discuss the images and stereotype
 s seen in our society through the media and together we will identify posi
 tive and negative portrayals. Movies focused on mental illness and substan
 ce use/addiction themes will be reviewed after the group decides which fiv
 e films they wish to watch and assess.\n\nWe'll have snacks ready for you!
