This online course will introduce you to the toolkit called “Towards Positive Change to Promote Mental Health and Wellbeing: A Toolkit for Black Canadians.” This innovative toolkit was created by Black Canadians (people who are African, Caribbean, or other descent) for Black Canadians and those who provide services to Black Canadians.

This toolkit aims to:

  • Increase understanding around systematic issues that impact the well-being of Black Canadian Communities.
  • Increase awareness about mental health and mental illness and ways of promoting recovery and positive mental health within Black Canadian Communities.

It is a call to action for this community to experience sustainable mental health and support. Topics covered in the toolkit and in the course include:

  1. Key Terms, Myths &Truths about Mental Health
  2. Factors that Impact Mental Health
  3. Gender Based Analysis Plus
  4. Parental Influence and Mental Health
  5. Impact of Housing on Mental Health
  6. Workplace Policies and Procedures
  7. Taking Care of Your Own Mental Health
  8. Taking Care of Others
