Every Conversation is a Game Changer
For 10 years, Talk Today has been saving lives in Manitoba sports communities. This October, during Mental Illness Awareness Week and World Mental Health Day, we’re celebrating a decade of hope, resilience, and champions for mental health.
Goals for Mental Health: Supporting Talk Today
For every goal scored in the MJHL regular season brings us closer to another life saved – with Manitoba Blue Cross donating $1 to CMHA Manitoba and Winnipeg Talk Today program. Their Mental Health Goals campaign is a strong powerplay partner – thank you Blue Cross! Together, we can achieve goals beyond the game.
The Talk Today Program
Talk Today is one of Canada’s most comprehensive sports mental health and suicide‑awareness programs, helping young athletes and their supporters learn how to recognize warning signs, start a conversation, and connect someone to professional help.
Launched in 2014 and delivered in partnership with local Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) branches and sports organizations, the program includes evidence‑informed curriculum, stronger pathways to care, and community awareness events at games, and a mentor coaching model.
Your donation keeps training accessible to athletes, provides greater connection to coaches and team staff, and equips people with the knowledge and skills to respond to someone considering suicide.
What your gift fuels
Suicide awareness & mental health education for players, coaches, and support staff — building skills to recognize warning signs and connect someone to help.
Team‑to‑CMHA connections that create a clear pathway from the rink to local mental health supports.
Resource & awareness nights that reduce stigma and allow conversations to begin that value curiosity and honour lived experience.
Help when it’s needed — guiding someone to support sooner, and equipping peers to check‑in with confidence.
Note: If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide, please call or text 9‑8‑8 now for immediate support.
