CMHA Manitoba and Winnipeg extends our deepest condolences to Chief Jim Bear’s family, friends, and Brokenhead Ojibway Nation upon his passing.
Chief Bear was a remarkable leader whose dedication, strength, and wisdom had a profound impact across Manitoba and Canada.
As Chief of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation, he was instrumental in establishing the first CMHA Branch within a First Nations community at that time, an achievement that reflects both his vision and his deep commitment to advancing mental health and wellness.
Chief Bear will be remembered as a champion of mental health, a leader of compassion and integrity, and a visionary whose legacy will continue to guide and inspire generations to come.
