DESCRIPTION:\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbsp\;\nAbout the course\nsafeTALK is a half-da
 y alertness training that prepares anyone over the age of 15\, regardless 
 of prior experience or training\, to become a suicide-alert helper. Most p
 eople with thoughts of suicide don’t truly want to die\, but are struggl
 ing with the pain in their lives. Through their words and actions\, they i
 nvite help to stay alive. safeTALK-trained helpers can recognize these inv
 itations and take action by connecting them with life-saving intervention 
 resources\, such as caregivers trained in ASIST.\n\nLearning goals and obj
 ectives\n\nOver the course of their training\, safeTALK participants will 
 learn to:\n\n• Notice and respond to situations where suicide thoughts m
 ight be present\n• Recognize that invitations for help are often overloo
 ked\n• Move beyond the common tendency to miss\, dismiss\, and avoid sui
 cide\n• Apply the TALK steps: Tell\, Ask\, Listen\, and KeepSafe\n• Kn
 ow community resources and how to connect someone with thoughts of suicide
  to them for further help\n\nTraining features:\n• Presentations and gui
 dance from a LivingWorks registered trainer\n• Access to support from a 
 local community resource person\n• Powerful audiovisual learning aids\n
 • The simple yet effective TALK steps: Tell\, Ask\, Listen\, and KeepSaf
 e\n• Hands-on skills practice and development\n\nsafeTALK helps expand t
 he reach of suicide intervention skills in communities around the world.\n
